The Build Back Better Act is at Bat
For those of you who missed it, we officially launched our Climate Action Explorer this past Friday!
To celebrate, we hosted a virtual event where we explained a little more about On the Level and the Climate Action Explorer, and we all listened to some words from climate activist Tony Perez-Soto and a recorded song from Mipso. We were so excited to share our project and want to thank everyone who was able to attend!
If you were not able to attend, we will be recording and posting a walkthrough of the Climate Action Explorer shortly so we can all get one step closer to making a difference in the climate movement.
Meanwhile, as Climate Week wrapped up, the big issue on all of our minds these days is getting the Democrats’ infrastructure bill through Congress. Commonly referred to as the Build Back Better plan, this reconciliation bill covers issues ranging from child care to health care, taxes to housing, and, of course, climate. Though the bill has been criticized for not being aggressive enough on confronting the climate crisis, it is certainly a step in the right direction, and for that reason, we want to provide you with some ways to help get this bill passed. (Some of which can be found on our Climate Action Explorer!)
However, it should be noted that the real person who needs to be convinced to pass this bill is Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Join in a twice-weekly phone bank (Tuesday and Thursday evenings) run by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network to let him know we want this bill passed.
Finally, here are a couple of actions to demand bigger and better climate policies into the bill as it is still being deliberated: Send a message with Earth Justice and get dirty energy out of the Build Back Better Act.
Thanks for reading, and give our Climate Action Explorer a look if you haven’t already! Forward to friends, family, and anyone who might be interested, and if you like what we’re doing here and want to see it get even better, please consider checking out our ongoing Launch Campaign.
