This week’s Climate Culture is a bit different. I’m sharing some of On the Level’s own work!
For several months, Ingrid and I have been creating a podcast for donors. It has been a valuable and fun experience, and we decided to keep it going with a public podcast… Climate Convos!
I hope you’re as excited as I am for this new venture. You will still catch us updating the Climate Action Explorer and writing Movement Monday and Climate Culture each week. You’ll just get the added bonus of being able to hear from us in podcast form once a month.
Climate Convos is an important new step in our mission to help everyone find their home in the climate movement. While there are many climate podcasts, Climate Convos is unique in that it serves an entry level audience. Ingrid and I interview movement leaders, share activist origin stories, and give you tools and tips to start making change yourself — no background knowledge required.
This month, we spoke with hydrologist and geomorphologist Patrick Belmont about his TedX Talk on soft forms of climate denial. Patrick’s is a great episode to start with, because the first step to taking action is really grappling with the fact that we are living through an emergency and must get the fossil fuels turned off! We talk a lot about the difference between accountability and shame and how to talk to your friends about the most important movement of our time.
I hope that you enjoy and subscribe (just hit follow on Spotify)! We’ve got a lot of exciting shows coming up and will soon be indexed by all the major platforms. So, if you don’t use Spotify, you’ll soon be able to find us wherever you get your podcasts. Those links will get sent out in next week’s newsletter.
Thanks for sticking by us through all our new adventures!
